Giving Tuesdayis a worldwide celebration of generosity. It is an opportunity for people around the world to come together through generosity in all its forms by sharing acts of kindness and giving their voice, time, money, goods, and advocacy to support communities and causes.
This Giving Tuesday, I invite you to donate tomy favorite 501c3 charity: The Compass School!
Each year, as part of our Compass Giving Tuesday Tradition, we unveil an original piece of artwork that captures some of our school’s accomplishments from the prior year. Through this tradition, we havea beautiful visual history of our school’s journey! (Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see prior years’ artwork!)
This year, we are so grateful toCompass Parent Tracy McGrath! She has deep roots at our school as the parent of a Compass alumna (Indarra) and an Explorer (Wylee)!

Tracy used her incredible talent in the watercolor medium to capture the goats, our new pavillion, the 1st year of our band program, the founding Compass soccer team, the cross country runners, and more!
Dear Compass Community,
When I joined the Compass community in 2015, I could not have imagined where we would be today. Over the past six years,we have exceeded expectations for growthin so many ways.
Among other accomplishments, together we have raised nearly 2 million dollars,$1,924,504 to be exact, from foundations, individual donors, the golf tournament (Thank you Renzi family!), and this community! Those dollars have been invested into programming and campus improvements that enhance Compass students’ experiences.
This incredible school support has enabled us to expand our farm program to becomean agricultural leader in Rhode Island with the largest school garden in the statewith 4,200 sq. ft. of crops. We have provided resources to 11 other schools in creating their own gardens, established an agricultural workforce development program for high school and college students, and offered after school enrichment and summer farm camp opportunities.
We were also able to make significant capital improvements to our campus based on visioning and wishes, including the addition offarm headquarters, the animal paddock, the high tunnel, the gaga court, the basketball court, the pavilion, the athletic field, outdoor classrooms, and our new middle school–a showcase for 21st century learning, harnessing the latest green technologies.Coming this summer will be an outdoor amphitheater!
Compass middle school students (starting at 5th/6th and growing up to 7th/8th) are now able to accessthree tracks of the musical experience of their choice: band, chorus, or general music. They are also able to participate in interscholastic sports, includingtrack, cross country and soccer!
It’s important to note that each of these enhancements listed above rests on the foundation of atop-tier academic programthat gets even better with each passing year.
We run an Annual Fund each year to help ensure The Compass School’s future success. It is ourhope that everyone in our school community will participate in giving. The collective support from parents, alumni, teachers, staff, grandparents and friends, is essential to ensuring the long-term growth and health of our school.
