Thank you for your interest in The Compass School!
Admission by Lottery
The Compass School is a public K-8th grade charter school and in accordance with our charter, enrollment is through a lottery which is open to all RI residents. Any applicant not chosen is retained on the waiting list, which will not roll-over from year to year. Applications are available for electronic submission.
The Compass School is now accepting applications for 2022-2023!
The application process is a little different this year as Rhode Island is exploring a Common Application for all charter schools.
EnrollRI was launched to ensure that access to Rhode Island Department of Education schools and programs remains easy, safe, and accessible for all families, even as we face the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Learn more about EnrollRI participating programs for the 2022-2023 school year, and access program family information tools and resources at EnrollRI.org.
Enrollment in a charter public school is nonselective and conducted by random lottery. Participating charter schools will share a common application for the 2022-2023 school application process.
Application Launch: November 23, 2021
Application Deadline: Thursday, March 17, 2022 @ 5PM
Charter School Lotteries: April 1, 2022
Use the Family Information Tool (FIT) to find the school(s) that meets the performance, accessibility, and programmatic targets you are seeking. Next, use the EnrollRI Common Application to apply to any participating charter schools you are interested in and for which your child is eligible to attend. Participating charter schools will hold their 2021-2022 admissions lotteries on April 1 or after and will communicate your student’s enrollment status soon after that time.

The Compass School is happy to announce the Admissions Open House Dates for the 2022-2023 school year.
They will be:
February 2, 2022 at 6:00 pm
March 3, 2022 at 6:00 pm
Given the continued prevalence of Covid-19 in the community, these Admissions Open House events will be virtual. That being said, please note:
- Families are welcome to visit the campus on the weekend in-person. While visitors will not be able to gain access to the interior of the buildings, you will get a sense of our beautiful campus.
- Note that while all pre-lottery events will be virtual, we anticipate being able to host an Accepted Students Event in-person later this Spring.
- At that time, you will be able to meet our staff in-person and participate in a tour of the campus (indoors and out).
- Details to be shared following the lottery.
