Hands on activities with soil, plants, animals and farm-to-table harvest are features of this program. Kids use magnification to spy on miniature soil life, make and apply compost tea to feed our garden, and get up-close and personal with pollinator studies! Making lavender shortbread cookies and exploring our vernal pond are favorite activities of this summer camp which emphasizes outdoor learning through play and exploration.

The Compass School, at 537 Old North Rd in Kingston, RI, is a historic farm and 20 acre campus that hosts the largest school garden in Rhode Island, animals, pollinator gardens, hiking trails, a pollinator maze and more! Summer staff trained in outdoor education and STEAM learning will introduce your children to a fun filled farm-to-table experience. This advanced farm camp opportunity will explore the science and ecology of sustainable farm practices, harvest and feasting, learning and fun on campus in the mornings. Exploring the surrounding ecosystem which supports our farm, doing microscopy for soil analysis, making and applying compost tea to crops, up-close and personal pollinator studies and making and baking lavender cookies with our homemade solar ovens are highlights of this camp! Campers will work with URI professionals and experience the neighboring leadership challenge course as well.
We offer 2:14 counselor/camper ratio and highly trained staff who are first aid/CPR certified.
